Remote work has become increasingly more common over the years but in the last few months it’s been almost compulsory. Amid the rapid changes made to accommodate a new remote workforce, ensuring the right collaborative technology and security remains top of mind for executives as their workforce goes remote. PwC’s COVID-19 CFO pulse survey reveals close to half of executives anticipate that a lack of remote work capabilities will lead to productivity loss, and 19% expect insufficient staffing to result in an inability to accomplish critical work.
That’s why Upwork has teamed up with Citrix, the global digital workspace leader, to unveil a new offering. The Upwork Talent Solution with Citrix® Workspace™ is a unique offering designed to deliver best-in-class secure remote infrastructure for companies to boost efficiency and productivity as the world increasingly adopts the benefits of remote, on-demand talent.
Empowering independent professionals—securely
With the Upwork Talent Solution, businesses can more efficiently and effectively integrate remote independent professionals with quick access to company tools and resources from anywhere and to any device, all while meeting rigorous security requirements. When connected to the network, independent professionals are provisioned with an approved environment containing the tools and applications they need to do their jobs. IT professionals can actively manage and monitor their access, maximizing staff productivity while assuring the highest levels of security.
Having the Citrix back-end on the solution is a real win for organizations. More than 100 million people in 400,000 organizations—including 99 percent of the Fortune 500—already rely on it for remote work.
“Against a backdrop of unprecedented and rapid change in the workforce, the quickly evolving shift to remote work is accelerating a cultural workforce trend that was already in motion,” said Lars Asbjornsen, senior vice president of marketing at Upwork. “With this announcement, we are delivering the agility and security needed for businesses to realize the potential of tomorrow’s workforce—today.”
Available June 29 through Citrix Service Provider and Solution Advisor A2K Partners, the offering is built on a consumption model where companies have the option to only pay for what they use each month. No contracts or long-term commitments are required. With COVID-19 and the economy posing so much financial uncertainty, this provides the flexibility organizations need to staff-up at a moment’s notice. And because it’s a cloud-based service, the solution is easy to deploy. No hardware is needed.
Reducing complexity to boost productivity
What’s more, because Upwork Talent Solution customers are able to package-up the most relevant apps and data for specific independent professional projects or jobs, complexity is greatly reduced. A single sign-on, universal search feature and user-friendly view facilitate work from any connected desktop or mobile device. This simplification ultimately saves time and improves overall efficiency. It also gives IT departments the intelligent security data required to keep things running safely and smoothly.
The Upwork Talent Solution’s arrival is particularly timely because—despite financial pressures created by COVID-19—73 percent of hiring managers are continuing or increasing their use of independent professionals and 47 percent are more likely to continue doing so in the future. Nearly 60 percent, meantime, agree businesses failing to embrace flexible work models risk falling behind those that do.
Tim Minahan, executive vice president of business strategy and chief marketing officer, sees more businesses embracing remote work and investing in options like the Upwork Talent Solution and digital transformation to enable it.
“While many companies viewed it as a short-term response to the COVID-19 pandemic, an increasing number are realizing that remote work must be part of their long-term plans,” he said. “It will enable them to attract the talent they need to operate in the unpredictable business environment we’ll be functioning in for the foreseeable future.
